Masters of the Art of Wrought Iron
We’ve been turning iron into art for over a hundred years. Our passion never ends.
Our passion for the art of wrought ironwork has been going on for more than four generations.
A historic workshop
The light and crisp air, along with the peaceful silence, soothe the spirit and encourage meditation. In this corner of Italy, precisely in Cogollo, a small hamlet within the municipality of Tregnago, an ancient craft endures – that of wrought iron.
For many generations, the Da Ronco family has been living in this place, an exemplary family that embodies the values of prosperity and creativity, characteristic of the Venetian civilization.
With a rather primitive style and highly evocative effects, Roberto Da Ronco was one of the greatest iron artists in the Veneto region. Raised in a family of blacksmiths, Berto quickly learned to shape iron and later honed his artistic technique by attending the School of Art in Soave.
Called Bertin, he was a kind and humble man. Curious and ambitious when it came to his knowledge and a lover of travel, always a great inspiration for getting to know different places and people.
He immediately adopted the challenging technique of "working from the inside," learned from his father. This technique required exceptional skill and patience, which hinted at his great talent.
Growing up amidst the scent of iron and the sparkling crackling of the forge, Marco Da Ronco immediately displayed his talent when, at just twelve years old, he sculpted a "covert" work.
Marco's skill wasn't only in bending and hammering iron but, above all, in ensuring the continuity of a family tradition that had become centuries-old
The workshop still keeps the tradition of the past alive today. We believe in the importance of the quality of materials used to ensure durability, maximum strength, and lasting beauty.
For wrought ironwork, we use bars made of an alloy composed of iron and carbon, which can be round, square, or rectangular in shape. To shape these rods, they are placed in the forge (where the temperature reaches 1000°). Iron, fire, and sweat are the three pillars that drive our work forward.
